Bench-top Multibus/AT-bus Enclosure includes a MATxBP hybrid backplane, card guides, drive bays, fans, and 300 Watt power-supply to make a combined hybrid PC/AT (ISA-bus) and Multibus I system. Up to 13 bus slots, each of which can be custom configured to be either PC/AT (ISA-bus) or Multibus. The standard configuration, priced and shown here, has seven Multibus slots, five 16-bit ISA slots, and two 8-bit ISA slots.
The two buses are independent, i.e. not connected in the backplane. This allows complete flexibility in how to interface the two buses, or even no interface at all between the two buses, which allows a separate Multibus system and ISA-bus system both in one enclosure.
An excellent way to interface between the two buses is by using one of our MAT486 or MATS7 PC/AT-compatible Multibus SBCs. In such a system, the MAT board is a fully PC/AT-compatible (ISA-bus) mother board in a Multibus-I form-factor, and includes full Multibus I bus-master capabilities, including support for multiple bus masters. It also has dual-ported onboard DRAM that can be accessed as a multibus-slave by other Multibus master boards. Our MAT SBCs are even designed to allow other Multibus Master boards to gain access to ISA-bus cards through the MAT board's ISA-bus interface.
In order to bridge the two buses using one of our MAT486 or MATS7 boards, we will include the connector board, MATxATCON (shown), which connects rigidly to the MAT board's ISA-bus header-sockets, allowing the MAT board to plug into both a Multibus slot and an adjacent ISA-bus slot simultaneously. Unlike in the photos here, the MATxATCON usually plugs onto the front of the MAT board, not on the back, and we add an extra 16-bit ISA-bus slot on the other side of the middle Multibus slot for this purpose, as shown in the photo on the MATxBP product page.
The price shown is for quantity 1. The price for multiple units would be significantly lower, especially if MAT486 or MATS7 SBCs are purchased with the system.
Contact us on our Email-Us page or by phone at (831)440-1200 (voice menu option 1) to discuss custom configurations. This entire system is our own design, including the MAT486 & MATS7 SBCs, and we would be glad to quote custom-designed systems. We are experts in Multibus I and ISA-bus interfaces.
